We’re at the charming Cottage of Mud Dabbers, on the Smoky Mountain Parkway near Waynesville, NC. But before moving to Waynesville, there was a tiny place on Rt 276 just south of Brevard, NC sitting right over the rushing water.

Carol & I were exploring mountain haunts and happened on to this mysterious shop years ago. That’s where we first encountered these little clay figures hanging on to strings, all around the place. What was that about.
The matriarch of the family told us the tale. Seems there was to be a wedding and something didn’t go right. No wedding happened and hearts were broken. However, the wise father knew that things like this are hard to grasp, especially for young folks, but time has a way of mending things if we just hold on, if we just tie a knot in the end of the rope.
Stop in for a treat of the eyes and something special which I can’t say but you’ll know when you get there. I just love the local artists. What a great time of year. Happy Thanksgiving!
