Photos close to home are often the best. Why? Because I think they come from the heart.

It might be something that just jumps out – usually from a familiar place. We might even

be saying to ourselves, “Gee, I never noticed that before.” When we find that happening, we’re on the right track — getting in the flow, seeing with our hearts, emotional feeling.

And therein lies the secret. Developing that hand-eye-heart connection. It’s something that pleases us. Being in that moment brings out the magic.

Here is one that was taken a couple years ago, about this time, out my front door – it just jumped out at me.

Tips on Critiquing: think in three phases… 1) Technical – sharpness, exposure, etc;         2) Composition – balance, rule of thirds, etc; 3) Feeling or emotional. Apply points to each (3 pts. most effective – 1pt least effective). Plus comments if you like.
